Focusing on forms of educational entertainment ("Edutainment"), my Animation Basics class was divided into teams to produce 1-2 minute 2D animations of a TedTalk of our choice. My group of 3 decided on Chimamanda Adichie's presentation, "The Danger of a Single Story," specifically the anecdote she gives at the beginning of talk. In an attempt to highlight the contrast between Chimamanda's world and the stories she grew up reading, we utilized 2 different art styles and color palettes. My primary responsibility was to create the environments young Chimamanda was immersed in, which were inspired by crayon drawings and literally diving into the storybooks she read, as well as tackling post-production camera and sound editing.
Animation took place in Clip Studio Paint Pro and post-production in Adobe After Effects.
